Too much fruit? Learn how to make sauces, compote and beverages with all that summer fruit.

 

July 23rd: Basic Fermentation and Pickling:

Learn the basics of kimchi and pickles.

Cardio Dance with Karma [ opens in a new windowRead About Karma Smartopens PDF file ] is a one-hour dance class experience that features a variety of dance styles. This class incorporates the genres of dance Karma has studied throughout her career including but not limited to Afro-Brazilian, Samba, Congolese, Zumba, Jazz, and more. Each class starts with a warm up and ends with a cool down. This class will make you sweat while having a lot of fun dancing to music from all over the world.

Come join Lori Hess with Way to Glow Kids Yoga for some family yoga time where parents and kids will playfully explore yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness activities together.  Family Yoga (kids aged 2 to 5)  Family Yoga on Sundays @ 10:00 – 10:45 (kids aged 2 to 5) and 11:00 – 11:45 (kids aged 6 to 12) on the lawn outside the KCC office/Recreation Building (past the tennis courts).  If possible, please bring a waterproof blanket/tarp, two yoga mats (we will have extra mats available if you need), warm layers in case it is chilly, and a water bottle. Anja Borgstrom is a warm-hearted, creative, teacher originally trained in Iyengar inspired yoga @ The Yoga room in Berkeley. For 20+ years she has been offering safe, yet dynamic practices to a wide audience from pre-schoolers to 50+, as well as leading yoga retreats in Northern CA and Hawaii

YOGA for STRENGTH & BALANCE
Wake up with a sunny yoga practice, which will focus on aligning breath with movement, building strength and stamina, and exploring balance. With a knack for variations, Anja’s inclusive style invites a practice appropriate for the individual.

 

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • One, but preferably two Yoga blocks
  • One yoga strap

This class teaches tai chi for better health, improving students’ strength, balance, flexibility, and dexterity. A gentle martial art, tai chi is a safe, rewarding activity for people of all ages and levels of health. Tai chi emphasizes the mind and body working in harmony. Relaxing the body and calming the mind help reduce stress and increase the flow of energy

Viva El Español

Starting Fall 2024 we will offer a kindergarten Spanish class after school. 


Spanish for kids grades K -6 after school. 2:30-3:15 for new students and 3:30-4:15 for returning students.

Mediterranean Cooking w/April Schlanger

2-hour workshop; $45/person (includes all materials).

Mediterranean cooking: Mediterranean cooking is influenced by the food of people living along the Mediterranean Sea.  This includes 22 countries like Spain, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Tunisia, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, Croatia, France, Italy and Slovenia to name a few.  This cooking class will focus on creating healthy, mostly plant based meals from a number of these counties. This is a great class to learn new techniques, interesting recipes, new herb combinations and how to utilize more seasonal produce. Join us each week or when you’re free.  We will also be offering something tasty to learn and eat. We will also pair some meals with beverages.  Lesson plans will be posted a week before each class on KCC Website and Instagram

April has a broad brush of skills and enthusiasm for working with and teaching all ages. She is the owner of Happyfoodwine, which sells, teaches, hosts, and promotes all of the “Happy” things in life: wine, food, crafts, canning, etc.
